Maïra Christine
Life apprentice.
Photography and film-making are some of my biggest passions. I have always been drawn to the fantastic world of cinema and the chaotic silence rendered to life by the art of photography.
Of French-Canadian and Brazilian background, I grew up in an Anglophone context, in Ottawa, Canada, to be precise. I have been based in Montreal for the past 18 years, where I completed a certificate in Video Production and a diploma Graphic Design at the Continuing Education program at Concordia University. During this time, I followed some courses in photography. Darkroom courses were those that I preferred the most; I could spend hours working in near-darkness on my photos. Today, I work mostly with digital, exploring with both a DSLR and Mirror-less cameras. I also love experimenting with other forms of photography or image editors such as Adobe Photoshop.
I am passionate about art in its many forms. This curiosity for learning and discovering the many cultural expressions of art fuels my passion for travel. To name a few, I've traveled to Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, many cities of the USA, France, Spain (hiking the Camino de Santiago, an 800km hike), Portugal, Sweden, UK, Italy. Closer to home, I have traveled by car across Canada, from Abbotsford, BC to Gaspé, QC.
They say, “A picture is worth a thousand words”; for me this so very true as sometimes words do not come easily but my camera does.
